Core responsibilities and history of the Federation

The principal responsibility of the Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation is to develop, promote and broaden participation in kickboxing throughout the country.

The Federation carries out purposeful activities to engage people from different parts of society, especially children and young people, in a healthy lifestyle, support their physical and moral development, and foster patriotism among the younger generation.

Core responsibilities of the Federation
  • Ensure the systematic development, broad promotion and accessibility of kickboxing throughout Azerbaijan;
  • Encourage children and young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and support their physical and moral development;
  • Contribute to patriotic education and the physical and moral preparation of young people for service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • Support efforts against drug abuse, juvenile crime, harmful habits and other negative social issues;
  • Cooperate with public authorities, sports organizations, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, regional offices and other partners.
History of the Federation

The Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation was established in 1993. During its initial period, the organization operated as the Azerbaijan Kickboxing and Muay Thai Federation, AKMF. Its founder, Azer Hasansoy, served as president from 1993 to 2000.

Adil Aliyev was elected president in 2000 and currently serves as Honorary President of the Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation. On 12 December 2008, the governing board resolved to divide the Azerbaijan Kickboxing and Muay Thai Federation into two independent sports organizations, after which the Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation continued the governance and development of kickboxing.

The Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation has been an official member of WAKO, the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations, since 1995. The Federation works to train professional athletes, coaches and referees, expand international sporting relations, and represent Azerbaijan with distinction at major international competitions.
